The Department of Agricultural Education, Extension and Short Courses is responsible for imparting education in the field of Agricultural Education and Extension up to the level of PhD.

The curriculum in Agricultural Education and Extension covers sub-disciplines including Agricultural Technology Transfer, Communication, Extension Programs for Rural Development, Agricultural Education Research, Agricultural Extension Teaching Methods, Education Guidance and Counseling, Adult Education, Measurement and Evaluation in Education, Extension for Rural Youth and Women.

In order to cope with the challenges of the fast-changing world and advancements in various disciplines, manpower needs to be trained in the field of Agricultural Education and Extension.

Department Introduction

The Department of Agricultural Education, Extension and Short Courses offers course work that enables students to serve as social catalysts, extension educationists and social mobilizers in farming communities and rural societies.

Students graduating from this department are expected to work for the development of farmers through a holistic farm education approach, diffusion and adoption of need-based latest agricultural technologies, and training in various agricultural products.

The Department offers B.Sc. (Agri.) Hons, M.Sc. (Agri.) Hons and Ph.D. in the field of Agricultural Education Extension.
