Chairman Message

Chairman Department of Agronomy
Dr. Aijaz Ahmed Soomro

Professor & Chairman

Welcome to the Department of Agronomy. The department is committed to producing trained graduates with strong knowledge and practical skills in crop production, crop management and sustainable agriculture.

Our academic and research activities are designed to address real agricultural problems faced by farmers under different agro-ecological and socio-economic conditions.

The department focuses on crop production management, crop research, research dissemination, entrepreneurial skills, sound agricultural practices and reducing the risk of crop failure among the farming community.

Objectives

The department is organized and implemented in a manner which enables learners to acquire and develop competencies in crop production management, crop research, research dissemination and entrepreneurial skills through learning activities and experiences based on real agricultural problems.

  • Disseminate knowledge and skills to students and those involved in crop production.
  • Identify technical and socio-economic issue areas constraining farm productivity.
  • Find practical solutions to overcome farm productivity problems.
  • Develop strategies through trainings and demonstrations to promote sound agricultural practices among local farmers.
  • Reduce the risk of crop failures and farmer vulnerability through improved crop production practices.
