The Department of Basic Engineering was established in 1977 as one of the departments of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering.
The department deals with various supporting courses including Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Computer Science and Engineering Mechanics with special application in Agricultural Engineering.
The supporting course of Functional Mathematics is offered to the faculties of Crop Production, Crop Protection, Agricultural Social Sciences and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences.
The department also offers two courses of Mathematics to the Information Technology Centre and one course to the Institute of Food Sciences and Technology.
The mission of the department is to provide leadership and excellence in teaching, research and outreach in Engineering Mechanics, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at graduate and postgraduate levels.
The department supports agricultural engineering education by providing strong foundations in mathematics, physics, mechanics and computing.
Engineering Mechanics and Applied Physics laboratory and Computer Lab are available for teaching graduate and postgraduate students.
Foundation courses such as Calculus, Analytical Geometry, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations and Numerical Analysis.
Physics-based learning to support engineering concepts and practical understanding for agricultural engineering students.
Teaching of mechanics principles with application in agricultural engineering and related technical fields.
Computer-based academic support for students through computing concepts, applications and laboratory learning.
The department offers supporting courses to multiple faculties and institutes of Sindh Agriculture University.
Engineering Mechanics, Applied Physics laboratory and Computer Lab support teaching at graduate and postgraduate levels.
The department provides supporting engineering foundation courses for students of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering.
