Department of Statistics

Department of Statistics

Keeping in view the unprecedented growth of interest in statistical methodology, a statistical section was established in the defunct Sindh Agriculture College under the scheme “Intensification of the Graduate, Postgraduate and Advanced Studies” in 1967.

Later in 1972-73, realizing the importance of statistical education in professional universities, the status of the statistical section was raised to that of a full-fledged department.

In view of the growing need, demand and opportunities for statisticians in various scientific fields, M.Sc. course in Applied Statistics was introduced in the department in 1977-78.
