Code of Conduct

Student Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct outlines the expected behavior, discipline, responsibilities, and ethical standards for students of Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam.

The Students of the University Shall

  • Devote wholeheartedly in acquiring knowledge imparted by teachers through prescribed books, literature, laboratory work and field activities.
  • Be regular in attending classes and maintain at least 75% attendance.
  • Maintain notes and lists of lectures delivered by teachers in class.
  • Preserve books and literature received from University Libraries in good condition.
  • Handle laboratory equipment, instruments, tools and machines with care and caution.
  • Extend cooperation and response to teachers for better learning and knowledge.
  • Show respect, obedience and regard towards teachers.
  • Maintain cleanliness in classrooms, laboratories, corridors, compounds and hostel rooms.
  • Participate in sports, games and extracurricular activities for healthy development.
  • Encourage brotherhood and unity among students.
  • Wear prescribed gown and identity badge to maintain student identity.
  • Contribute actively to national ideology and Islamic mode of life.
  • Obey rules, instructions and guidelines issued by University authorities.
  • Respect national leaders, scholars and religious leaders without distinction.
  • Perform all acts that elevate the image and prestige of the University.

The Students of the University Shall Refrain From

  • Activities against Islamic ideology, Pakistan ideology or national solidarity.
  • Promoting violence, hatred or contempt.
  • Raising slogans or using words against any group, class, individual or University authority.
  • Promoting regional, linguistic or sectarian conflicts.
  • Using campus premises for political or sectarian gatherings.
  • Using unfair means or malpractices in examinations.
  • Using pressure tactics or personal influence in academic or administrative matters.
  • Using coercive, oppressive or bullying tactics.
  • Bringing, consuming or encouraging narcotics or criminal activities on campus.
  • Bringing, keeping or using weapons within University premises.
  • Concealing misconduct of any student or group from University authorities.
  • Unauthorized occupation of any room or part of University building.
  • Taking out processions or holding meetings without permission.
  • Damaging University buildings, property, lawns, orchards, farms or gardens.
  • Any act that may bring disgrace or bad name to the University.

Violation of Conduct and Discipline Regulations

Any student found violating the prescribed norms of conduct shall be considered guilty of breach of conduct and discipline regulations and may be liable to penalty under University rules.

Hostel Code of Conduct

  • Students shall follow all rules and regulations framed for University hostels.
  • Students shall not allow guests in rooms after sunset.
  • Students shall not give refuge or protection to criminals or fugitives from law.
  • Students shall not bring, keep, hide or store any weapon in University hostels.
  • Students shall sign the hostel register when arriving after closing hours.

Grounds of Penalty

  • Misconduct.
  • Acts of violence, force, intimidation or use of arms.
  • Damage or destruction of University property.
  • Undesirable speeches, slogans or publications against Pakistan, Islamic ideology or University prestige.
  • Use of unfair means in examinations.
  • Consumption, sale or distribution of alcohol, liquor or intoxicating drugs.
  • Unauthorized collection of donations or subscriptions.
  • Acts involving moral turpitude or disgraceful conduct.
  • Any act outside campus that brings bad name to the University.

Penalties

Minor Penalties

  • Warning in writing.
  • Fine not exceeding Rs. 500/-
  • Withholding result for up to 6 months.
  • Withholding certificate of good moral character.
  • Withdrawal of financial concessions.
  • Expulsion from classes for up to three months.

Major Penalties

  • Cancellation of examination result.
  • Removal from hostel.
  • Deprivation from University privileges or scholarship.
  • Rustication or expulsion from University.
  • Disqualification from University examinations.
  • Ban on entry into University premises.

Procedure for Imposing Penalty

  • The orders of the Vice Chancellor shall be final.
  • The right of review shall also vest in the Vice Chancellor.
  • The Students Advisor may conduct preliminary inquiry by recording statements.
  • The matter may be referred to the Discipline Committee.
  • The Discipline Committee shall hear witnesses and the defaulting student.
  • After proceedings, the Discipline Committee shall forward its opinion to the competent authority.
  • The competent authority may impose penalty after receiving the committee’s opinion.

Appeal

  • A defaulting student may file an appeal against the penalty order to the Academic Council within one month of the decision.

Officers Authorized to Impose Penalty

  • Teacher Incharge may expel a student from classroom, laboratory, workshop or field work for the concerned period.
  • President Gymkhana may expel a student from game activities for not more than one week.
  • Chairman Library Committee may expel a student from library for up to one month.
  • Dean of Faculty may expel a student from classes for up to one month.
  • Hostel Provost may expel a student from hostel residence for up to four months.
  • Students Advisor, Hostel Provost, President Gymkhana, Dean and Librarian may impose fine not exceeding Rs. 500/-
